Thank Sam for this one. Maseo is 8 years old, and he’s a camper at Kobe’s camp in Santa Barbara. He’s also all of about three feet tall, and has a knack for making other little kids look stupid (1:13). He breaks ankles, throws dimes and hits game winners. Kobe dubbed him Lil’ Mamba. And now he’s on Wine & Bowties. If I can get Gladwellian on you for a minute, let me just say this. Find something you’re passionate about, and cultivate your craft, because it takes time. Looks like this young bruh got a headstart though. Happy Saturday.
John Wooden once said that the journey was the most beautiful part of victory. As we continue on our paths we’ve gotta savor every moment, every small success as we go, because in hindsight those moments become classic. I wonder if Kobe knew back then how things would turn out.
There’s new shit to blog about every single day. And some things are just cooler than others. In the process of browsing the daily selection, sometimes you get some pretty pictures. Other times you get a quality slap, or a funny video. And then some days, you get a new Nike commercial full of Kobe’s career highlights and classic hoops moments, all set to a Beatles song, covered by none other than 3 Stacks. I guess today’s just one of those days.
Professional sports are really compelling because as an audience we get to watch players blossom. In hoops especially, we literally watch boys turn to men, as they progress throughout their career. This OG Sportscenter clip just got me thinking. KB8 back when he was 8, and Keyshawn Johnson. So out here. Always remember, the shit we’re doing now will be classic in 20 years, so never negate the importance of these moments. The journey’s just begun.
Am I having déjà vu? I don’t think so. GQ showed Kobe some more love. While his fits leave a little to be desired, the collaboration with T. Rich makes this one special. The article itself is pretty interesting as well, as J.R. Moehringer highlights the various elements of Kobe’s polarizing character, while also detailing each injury that he’s playing through at the moment. Impressive to say the least. Aside from that, Kobe was Kobe against the Grizz last night. So you can settle on this too.
Some folks may fuck with these purely for fits sake. Others may simply want it to remember. Releasing today at UNDFTD, the MVPuppets shirts will make their public debut to the tune of $32. While I’d be much happier in the 15-20 range, the shirts do capture one of the more successful marketing campaigns NIKE has executed in the recent past. But a quick request.. Can someone name the person who came up with this campaign? I’m pretty sure they’re settled right now. Coming back this season is a questionable move in my humble. But nonetheless entertaining. But if Kobe & Lebron don’t meet in the finals it will again be a bittersweet playoffs. I’ve got my fingers crossed.
I think I’ve done a good, actually a great job of keeping the Kobe posts settled thus far on the bowties. Shit, I could’ve just made a blog all about Kobe. But we decided to go a different route. With so much love and so much hate, it’s hard to negate that the mere name Kobe Bryant sparks debate nearly whenever it’s mentioned. While we’ve provided Kobe highlights before, today we’d like to present Kobe in a colder, icier light. GQ recently presented their list of the most doin it cats of the year. KB8 was one of them. Alongside Tom Brady, Zach Galifianakis, Barack Obama and Clint Eastwood? Yeah, a real head scratcher. Nonetheless GQ gave Kobe some love, and jooged him with some fly gear to for us to aspire to. As we’ve said before, “It’s all fun and games ’til someone gets fly…”
Kobe is so out here. What else can you really say about the dude that hasn’t been said already? Ring number 4. No Shaq. We all know the story. Yeah, there could have been a little more competition, a little more tension (a little more Lebron maybe). But either way, it’s only right to take a moment out to reflect on a ridiculous season and a major career milestone for one of the absolute best ever to pick up a basketball. In that spirit, let’s take a trip to ’96, when a certain 18 year-old started to show the league the shape of things to come. True talent is undeniable.
This one couldn’t be written better if it was a Hollywood movie. Kobe and Lebron, the two most dominant forces in the NBA on track to meet head to head in the finals. Feels like everyone is waiting for these two to finally meet. Just wanted to do my part to add to the hype a bit. The two best in the game, doing what they do best. Enjoy.
I know it’s not raining but it’s about time. We’re gonna be real selective with these Kobe vids. We’re gonna start off slow and take our time with it. This is the inaugural. Something simple, yet so sophisticated. The most amusing part of kobe videos are the crowds reactions after he makes a play. They simply cannot believe it. I understand the hate. I really do. I can see the reporters asking him, “Why would you take a shot over the two best defenders on the Jazz?” His response, “Because I think I can make it…”
