KID CUDI – “DAY N NITE” (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

Almost the best video out. Best video of the week for sure. Cudi just came with something original, which is so appreciated. The regular mold of hip hop videos is so played that to conform is to admit that your shit isn’t worth the time to create meaninful and poignant works. Song is slightweight old but Cudi is doin it. Thank god he has the co-sign from Ye to have his visuals on par. Seems like they used the same animation as Ye did in the Heartless vid. Don’t even know if there is a “concept” for the video but there is an entertaining perspective taken on each character. The best thing Cudi’s got goin for him is that he’s different. A breathe of fresh air in a really stale game. Plus the Kanye co-sign and Cudi is winning. The best artists keep you wondering what they’ll do next.

DRAKE – SO FAR GONE MIXTAPE

Before I start. I admit I was sleeping on Drake. For maybe 3 days. The first Drake track I heard was “I Want This Forever.” An above average track, but nothing spectacular.. And then Ransom came out. “You aint heard of me then you should go and get a blues clue/oops I meant a red clue/Wayne’s here su-woo/bet he felt that like the end of a pool cue” That line put Drake into my consciousness. From there, “Brand New,” “Man of the Year,” and “Uptown” separated him from everyone else.

THIS KID HATES 50 CENT

Again for those who haven’t lol’d today. This kid just doesn’t fuck with 50. He’s hatin on his street cred, he’s hatin on his hustle. I hope this kid makes more videos. He could be a star.

COLDPLAY & JAY-Z – “LOST” GRAMMYS

Probably the most memorable performance of the night. Everything’s just working on this one. Chris Martin and Jay are doing it, and the transition into ‘Viva La Vida’ is easy too. Those jackets are silly though.

‘SWAGGA LIKE US’ GRAMMY PERFORMANCE

M.I.A goes hard for that, going hard at the Grammys with a baby on board. You know Kanye is fresh when he can have a fucked up haircut and nobody says anything. Jay is like the Marlon Brando of the crew. This is tight but kiiiiiiinnnnddddaa weak. I like the B/W though. Wayne still probably goes the hardest. They should’ve done more choreographed moves to really just kill it, then they could combine all of their individual swagger to have the most swagged out Grammy performance. Instead the swag of the performance plateaus at like a 9.1 on the swagger scale. T.I should’ve gone third Wayne should’ve wrapped it up. I’m inspired.

PHARRELL WILLIAMS ON CREATIVITY

Mr. Grindin/I’m A Slave For You/Beautiful/ etc. etc. etc. shares his thoughts on life, his passions and his motivations in a behind the scenes video with Nylon Magazine. Like others, you can either say a lot or a little about Pharrell. I’ll save the a lot for another time.

KANYE WEST – “HEARTLESS”

One of the few music videos out that has true replay value Hype Williams kills it with the Jetson graphics. Top 3 Kanye videos?

YOUNG JEEZY + JAY-Z MY PRESIDENT IS BLACK (LIVE)

Watching this video is like eating 1 Cheez-It. You’ll think you’re straight, but you gotta go back for more. It’s 3.32am already peeped like 4 times. Jalen Rose top right though?
