I’d rather be number two
And everybody know I should be number one,
Than to be number one.
Then I have somewhere to go.”

We apologize in advance for the DJ tags, but you know we had to do it. We got you when the full CDQ drops. Tapemasters Inc. came with the exclusive on a brand new track by 3 Stacks himself. Like the other scattered but brilliant tracks we’ve been privileged enough to hear from Dre over the past few years, this one is something serious. There’s certainly something to be said for a dude that can release just a handful of verses a year (and no albums in the last 3), and still be mentioned in damn near every “best rapper alive” conversation. Still waiting on those solo albums from both him and Big Boi, but for now we’ll settle on this.

Most of us had just entered high school. Some of the hottest J’s released this year. They dropped the XI’s, XVI’s, and I’s. Missy Elliot was doin it. So was 112. And 3LW existed (they wouldn’t have flopped with Ashley). Ms. Jackson dropped as the second single off of Stankonia. Believe it or not, the name ‘Ms. Jackson,’ refers to the real-life mother of Erykah Badu, Andre 3000’s ex-girl and mother of his son, Seven. A classic video, an undeniable slap.
