THE LOST PRISON TAPES: A CONVERSATION WITH TUPAC SHAKUR

Many of us were too young to take in Pac’s wisdom while he was still on earth, so we must cherish videos like these when they surface. Shot two years before his untimely death, Tupac speaks about his life, his purpose and his music with a clarity that reveals the artists self awareness. Also highlighting the plight of the prison industrial complex and the never ending cycle of gang violence, much of Pac’s insight foreshadows realities that are even more prevalent today. Lots of wisdom in this one so take your time with it. Don’t thank me, thank Lukas. We need more heroes.

WALE FEAT. JOHN MAYER – “LETTER”

WaleWhile this track won’t see a release on Attention: Deficit, I think it’s notable for a lot of different reasons. For one, John and Wale are two of the dopest cats doing it right now. As far as this music thing goes, they’re the kind of artists who just understand it; quality music that uplifts and entertains. Wale shines here, delving about as deep as we’ve heard him get yet, with an open letter to two of the most influential figures of our era: Barack and Pac. Call me crazy, but out of the GQ group, I think Wale might just be the biggest threat. Not to sell Drizzy or the Moon Man short though. It’s pretty much neck and neck. Attention: Deficit drops November 10th.
