It feels like we’re just getting to that point where we can really dig in and re-appropriate the ’90s in full force. I mean, not that a few hundred bands haven’t probably done some version of this song, but seeing a band as hip as Yeasayer spring for an early ’90s radio staple like “Crazy” is pretty cool. Stripping the song down to a sort of unplugged version for Australian radio station Triple J’s Like a Version, Yeasayer poked fun at the lack of their signature electronic theatrics on this one, claiming “it’s us covering Rolling Stones covering Everlast covering Pearl Jam covering Seal”. However tongue-in-cheek this one may purport to be though, it actually sounds great, and it’s proof that “Crazy”, like “O.N.E” or “Ambling Alp” might be someday, is a classic dance song worth revisiting.
