If you had to guess based on the gritty, bluesy swagger that is their sound, you might think The Black Keys were from somewhere pretty far South of the Mason-Dixon. Call it the CCR syndrome. In the eight years since their debut, the Ohio-based duo have built their M.O. around soul-steeped rock and roll songs that hit you like a well-placed punch to the gut. Their latest, Brothers isn’t a drastic departure from their signature style; The Keys have made it pretty clear that they’re not about to reinvent the wheel any time soon. Brothers does however, find the two musicians digging deeper into their soulful side than ever before, shaping one of the best records of the year so far. For all intents and purposes, “Everlasting Light” might as well be gospel. This is music that just feels too damn good.

The Black Keys offer a very gritty bluesy swagger. I like the sound and your description of it. Is it really just two guys, instruments and amps? This whole Brothers album is nice.
This is my favorite Black Keys song (may tie with Tighten Up). I’ve determined that my future husband, wherever he is out there, needs to sing this to me. Or at least lipsync it as he wakes me up on a sunday morning with some black chai spice tea.
