When Saadiq dropped The Way I See It last Winter, I think it made a statement. The critical acclaim and fanfare that met the album spoke to the power of quality soul music, as opposed to the mass-produced bullshit music that often catches our attention. Don’t get me wrong though, soul music definitely has some other folks carrying the torch as well. Maxwell, Mark Ronson and Mayer come to mind off top. Not sure how this one got past me, but the video is just icy all around. More often than not, simplicity reigns supreme.
