DEAR WINE & BOWTIES

Photobucket

Is it just me, or have Cosmo, Glamour, and Allure, been alternating their cover stories between each other for the past decade? I swear every time I’m in a Safeway or Ralphs I’m greeted by Sarah Jessica Parker, and 234 new ways to feel sexy. Why are these numbers always so big? Why are there 189 new hair tips, or 257 new Fall outfits waiting for me every time I’m done getting groceries? Please Wine & Bowties, am I trippin? Maybe I am. Because girls fuck with them. (Ok. Maybe not you, but one of your friends does…) But I’m curious. Is there actual value in these mags? One time I asked a girl why she read Cosmo, and she said, “Because it makes time go by faster…” Is there an inherent value to these magazines that I’m missing? Or is it just something to pass the time? And why are the same magazines in every grocery store around the country? And why is it always Sarah Jessica Parker? Someone, anyone, please help me.

Sincerely,

Confused in the Checkout

Well, are you a woman? Most women cannot understand how a man can spend hours watching sports when in the end, someone wins, someone loses, and we’re all the same.

Yeah but sports aren’t telling you you need to fuck all the time and take advantage of people by putting yourself at risk either. I feel like it’s unhealthy, especially because where they are placed. I mean do 5 year olds really need to see this cover?

Not that I have a problem with sex or having a good time, but I think it’s getting to be a bit much.

As a woman who used to read those magazines, I have to agree that they’re all the same and all bullshit. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to keep up on fashion, etc but there are magazines that cover that without going into these articles offering general and usually pretty bad advice. I read strictly fashion magazines now which generally make me feel more inspired than any of those other magazines did, which is what i’m looking for when i buy a magazine: inspiration not insecurity

These mags are in it for the dough and a pot of them are under the same company. The ones that you named aren’t even real fashion mags. I feel like they have no content, just looking to make sales off the image obsessed chicks who patronize Rihanna and Katy Perry. When it all comes to unit sales what better “it girl” should grace the cover other than SJP, or the other two that I mentioned…

LMAO at the cover “tickle his prostate with an egg beater”. jokes. I couldn’t agree with you more. Sometimes I wonder if they are just trying to see what they can get away with. My ex girlfriend used to read them and they would have the most rediculously retarded tips. Off the top off my head I remember one being: “If you are in need of a last second hair tie use a thong”. WTF. Who has an extra tong lying around and not an extra hair tie? The day I see a woman walking around with a thong in her ponytail will be a sad day for all (wo)mankind

The numbers on the covers are there to sell. Proven trick that the higher numbers and larger print create more sales. :)
