Now don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan of basketball. But this is just absurd. The NBA goes, because it’s simply the top athletes performing at the highest level of play. But doesn’t it sometimes feel like all the players are in on something the rest of us aren’t a part of? I always wonder what opposing players are talking about during free throws. But I guess we’ll never know. This flop is ridiculous, and gets the bowties love for being the most absurd of its kind.

To tie this in to the larger scheme of things, let us take a moment to acknowledge that everyone flops. Not necessarily in the same way as discussed above, but more specifically within our daily lives. Every once in a while we throw up an airball in the game of life, and have to move on from there. What I’m realizing now more than ever though, is that it’s not so much about what happens to us, as much as it’s about how we respond to the situation. We are always in control.

Success is pretty dope. It’s like you work and work and work and work, for what? For goals, I suppose. But more so it’s about the journey. I think our personal pursuits are in a lot of ways like climbing a mountain. Moments like Reggie’s here, are like the times when you’re climbing a mountain and stumble upon a clearing and happen upon a view. You get a chance to take a deep breath, and see how far you’ve come. They’ll be special moments along the way that’ll make it all worth it. But you’ve gotta climb the mountain to see the pretty views.

Life’s exciting sometimes because you never know when that moment will happen that changes everything. Meet Masato Akamatsu, one of Japan’s premiere players for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp. I wonder if he knew he was gonna do this. Was this practiced, or merely instinct? Did he have a feeling when he woke up in the morning that today would be special, and this game would not be like all the others. I wonder sometimes. I guess you never know when greatness hits, unless you do.

Damn, there really are folks that can leap tall buildings in a single bound. Known to the world as Parkour, the discipline stands for the art of movement, and specifically relates to one’s ability to adapt to their present environment. Originating in France, the non-competitive “sport” challenges its participants to get from one place to another using only their body and their surrounding environment. Pretty impressive if you ask me. Humans are hella clean.

Growing up I always loved the flashy players. The ones that would make you stand up out of your seat and say, “Whoa” I always loved the players that did something so amazing on the court that you had to go outside and try the same shit yourself. When I didn’t know any better, it was Hotsauce. But in the same vein, it was J. Will, Franchise and Kobe to name a few. As my appreciation for hoop developed, so did my research. Which led me to the Pistol. Perhaps he was the inspiration for White Chocolate to do his thing. Because from ’99 to ’01 he was the king, in my eyes. Nonetheless, I wanted to reach back and share this interview with Pistol Pete today. For those with a little time on their hands, we’ve thrown part 2 and 3 in there after the more. SettledSaturday.com. I see you Lan.

In a way, scoring a goal is a lot like sex. From the start of the game, to a goal, is similar, to that initial interaction to, well, ejaculation. Pardon my metaphor but don’t you agree? You go to a game, you sit down in your seat and wait for your team to score. You go to a club, sit down at the bar, and spend the rest of the night trying to score. Am I right or am I right?

On a a less erotic note, am I the only one who’s back into soccer since the World Cup finished? I forgot how fun it was to play. This goal’s special. On some And1 Soccer hype. Courtesy of the one and only Oscar Sanchez.

Yesterday Alex shared this gem of a video with Will and I in the tree house. After relating the tagline of Wine & Bowties to him, Alex’s eyes lit up when he asked us if we’d ever heard of Liquid Mountaineering. One of the more extraordinary activities I’ve come across in recent memory. In reality, the video speaks for itself, so for now, my work here is done. But always remember, in many instances our minds are our greatest hurdle to overcome. Once you believe you can achieve. And that’s when the magic happens. Impossible is only impossible until someone does it.

The British Bulldog (also known as “Davey Boy Smith”), rose to fame as one of the biggest stars of the WWF in the early 90′s. Holding every title in the WWF except the world title, The British Bulldog was kind of like the Jermaine O’neal of the WWF. He put in work, did his thing but never rose to super stardom. Nonetheless, he was in the game and doing it. Reaching the pinnacle of his career in ’92, the British Bulldog headlined August’s Summer Slam capturing the intercontinental championship from Bret Hart in front of 80,300 fans at Wembley Stadium in London England. Messing with the roids and other extracurriculars led to the end of Davey Boy’s career, but he’ll always be remembered as one of the greatest intercontinental champions to ever do it.
